LipDubs have been all the rage in the college and university scene for quite some time. The concept is relatively simple – choose a song that represents the message of your school, and then gather students from various programs, and shoot a music video. The trick of it? It all has to be recorded in one continuous camera shot.
Jester Creative has a great relationship with Algonquin College (in fact, our team members Suze and Tony are grads!), so it made perfect sense when Algonquin approached us to help them produce their LipDub video.
Our goal was not to take over the production, but rather, Jen and Suze facilitated the students’ efforts as producers, writers, and directors. We worked closely with a great team of student producers, directors and actors to pull together all aspects of the production. We also called in our favourite pro film director, Andrew Lavigne (also a grad!) to head up the direction and videography, and Tom Leroux of Darner Media consulted on the technical aspects.
Basically everything you see in the video below was the brainchild of Algonquin’s amazing students, with Jester Creative’s professional guidance and support. We think it came out really well, don’t you?
