Whether your clients are business owners, students, politicians, or full-time parents, they all have one thing in common: They’re busy! One of the most overlooked aspects of the interactions between a business and its clients, is the time it takes to have them. Today’s client is always on-the-go, and wants to have their needs met in a timely manner. So, how do we meet those needs? By creating mobile apps.
Mobile apps can provide your clients with convenient access to your services and increase the use of those services as a result. The problem? Not all apps are created equal.
Where do you start? Well, with a few simple rules, of course!
Ease of Use
Keep it simple! You want to make sure your clients’ needs are met, but you also want to make sure that they aren’t overwhelmed by gimmicks, ads, or complex menu options. People should be able to quickly locate the service they need. The most used services on your website should also be available for use on your app. Making these features available provides convenience to your clients, and lets them know that their time is valuable to you.
Your app should be accessible to all of your clients. This may mean considering an app in multiple languages, depending on your area of business. In an increasingly diverse market, being able to communicate with your clients in their language of choice is an excellent way of letting them know that they are important to you.
Make sure that your mobile app is compatible with most makes and models of smart phones. For example, did you know that Flash software is not compatible with Blackberry or iPhone? Choosing the right software to deliver your content is just as important as the content itself.
Knowing and understanding your audience is the most important aspect of writing anything for digital media. Why should a mobile app be any different? The people that use your app, are the same people that use your business’ services. You already know what your target audience is, and your app should cater to them specifically.
